House Leagues - Travel Teams - Age Groups

HOUSE LEAGUES

All of the house leagues begin with coaches calling players for practices sometime in mid to late May. The season starts around the beginning of June and runs through July. The playoffs start around the beginning of August and end with Championship Day.

Select Teams are offered from Mosquito through Junior, dependent on interest. The Select Teams are chosed from the house league rosters to play in tournaments throughout the summer across the province. The coach will determine what tournaments the team enters as well as the provincial championships held on Labour Day weekend.

T-Ball and Jr. Rookie Ball scores are not kept during the season, but both leagues run a playoff tournament. All other leagues keep scores and track standings during the season. All teams in every league play in the playoff round, which ends all leagues on Championship Day in August.

In all our house leagues we have a free substitution rule and specialized pitching rules. The entire batting order is run through in every league with the end of an inning after three outs, beginning at the Sr. Rookie Ball age group. Local house league rules are available from team coaches.

TRAVEL TEAMS

The GNBA offers travel team opportunities at all age groups. When there is an adequate demand and supply of players, we offer "B" Teams. The "B" Teams are normally run only in the Mosquito and Peewee divisions. The "B" Teams is filled with players from both the Major and Minor divisions.

In order to be eligible to play on a "B" Team, each player must attend, and be cut from the Major or Minor team when try outs are conducted.

A determination is made after registration in January if there are enough players interested in Travel Baseball at each division to warrant the formation of a "B" Team.

Try out practices normally begin in April of each year. Parents and players should watch the "Local Sports" column in the Niagara Falls Review for dates, times and parks.

All travel team players will pay a surcharge upon making the teams.
